Recruitment drive for Midcounties’ consortium
Midcounties Co-op Travel has appointed a new head of its consortium business as it begins a new recruitment drive.
Alison Holmes will join from Thomas Cook Co-operative Travel where she is currently head of Freedom Travel Group and the Co-operative Personal Travel Advisors.
Since its launch in 2012, the Co-op Consortium has attracted 26 members and achieved turnover approaching £100million.
Now the consortium hopes to attract more members who are keen to receive the backing of a Co-operative business.
Alison Holmes, who will start the new role in the summer, said: "Its growth has been fantastic to see and I’m confident of attracting new members in the coming months based on its unique proposition."
Members receive marketing support, technical training and assistance, as well as group membership of ABTA and ATOL.
Alison will report directly to Alistair Rowland, group general manager for The Midcounties Co-operative Travel. She was previously part of Alistair’s senior team at The Co-operative Travel.
Alistair Rowland said: "With the Co-op Consortium going from strength to strength her appointment puts us in the ideal position to embark on a new recruitment drive.
"Alison will be deputised by Gillian Travis, deputy head of the Co-op Consortium, who has been instrumental in the set up and growth of the consortium, to create a formidable team."
