Recruitment site names best travel employers

Cruise specialist Cruise.co.uk remains the best travel company to work for, according to its employees.

For the second year in a row, staff posted the most positive reviews on workadvisor.co.uk, a site where people anonymously rate their employers in five key areas.

Cruise.co.uk gained the highest overall score, although the survey was based on just 348 reviews posted last year.

Scotland Cruise Centre came second and winner of the 2015 Award iglu.com and its sister company Planet Cruise came third. Last year’s runner-up Hays Travel came fourth.

"It’s great that Cruise.co.uk has the best overall employee ratings for the second year running, it’s a business with clear values and a culture of looking after their people," said WorkAdvisor chairman Philip Price.

"They excel in the areas of ’employee motivation’ and ‘recommendation to a friend’ and encourage their people to give them feedback.

"Runner-up Scotland Cruise Centre featured for the first time in the 2017 WorkAdvisor study and performed particularly well in the areas of ‘sociability at work’ and also ‘recommendation to a friend’.

"After three years of results we can see that it’s small to medium sized businesses with strong values and visible leadership that continue to get positive employee reviews, but what has been really interesting to see is that larger operators like Thomas Cook and TUI Travel have also been reviewed positively by their employees over the last 12 months."

Cruise.co.uk managing director Seamus Conlon said: "It’s great to have been recognised again by winning the WorkAdvisor 2017 Travel Employer of the Year Award for the second year running. Our success is driven by a dedicated, skilled and loyal set of people, who we do value greatly and are proud of our culture where people can thrive with great management support.

"We have open communication channels across the company and appreciate the ideas that this encourages to help us improve and it’s excellent to receive further validation from so many colleagues that it’s a great place to work."
