Remains of missing US tourist found inside shark
The mystery surrounding the disappearance of an American woman while diving in Indonesia has been partly solved.
Her remains were found inside the stomach of a shark.
Colleen Monfore, 68, went missing almost two weeks ago while diving near the Pulau Reong island in Maluku, Indonesia.
The remains were discovered by a fisherman who caught a shark ‘in distress.’
The fisherman killed the shark and opened up its stomach.
Human remain still attached to a wetsuit were discovered.
However, there is doubt this was a shark attack, and more likely the shark found her body in the ocean some time later.
“Colleen’s body was identifiable. Her fingerprints are being used by our US Embassy and the local government for proof of death,” her friend, Kim Sass wrote on social media.
“This would not be possible if the shark had attacked her weeks ago.”
