Resorts World Sentosa hotels penalised for Covid protocol breach
Two hotels at Resorts World Sentosa have been reprimanded for a breach of Covid protocols.
Beach Villas and Equarius Hotel have been ordered not to accept any new bookings for one month, after violating safe distancing measures.
The Singapore Tourism Board said the booking ban is effective from 22 December until 21 January 2021.
The hotels may accept existing bookings already confirmed.
In October, enforcement officers found 15 people in a villa even though only four were registered guests at Beach Villas.
Singapore’s safe management policy restricts guests in a single accommodation unit to five people if not part of the same household.
Similarly, STB enforcement officers found 16 people in a guest room at the Equarius Hotel.
STB said both hotels failed to adequately man entry points to ensure all visitors were screened and checked-in via the SafeEntry system to stop unauthorised gatherings.
STB said the hotels may be subject to ‘enforcement actions’ which could result in fines or possibly even jail time under Singapore’s Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act.
