Rhode Island taps former Massachusetts tourism head

The nation’s smallest state has turned to the former tourism head of Massachusetts to lead its tourism marketing strategy.
 
Betsy Wall has been selected as the new chief marketing officer for Rhode Island Commerce Corporation.
 
"Rhode Island has a great story to tell and I am confident that my experience in travel, tourism and New England will help to propel Rhode Island’s brand forward. I’m looking forward to this opportunity," said Wall.
 
Wall was executive director of the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism for eight years instrumental in bring more international flights to Boston Logan Airport. 
 
She was also chair of Discover New England, a consortium of state tourism agencies working together to raise awareness of New England overseas.
 
"Given her deep experience driving tourism in the New England region, Ms. Wall will provide the kind of strong, seasoned leadership we need in order to succeed in these efforts," said Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor.
