Rising European fuel prices will hit holidaymakers this summer
Brits choosing to holiday on the continent to avoid ash cloud and cabin crew strike cancellations will be hit in the pocket by fuel pump prices, according to the Post Office’s Travel Money report.
It says that continental fuel prices have gone up by as much as 24p a litre for unleaded petrol and 30p for diesel.
However, it did add that Europe is still cheaper than the UK for diesel motorists, except in Norway which has been rated the most expensive place in Europe to drive in for the last three years.
The highest rises are in Sweden which actually saw the lowest prices in 2009. This yoyo pricing will see drivers paying almost a quarter more for unleaded petrol and 34% extra for diesel fuel.
