River cruise fam trips launched to raise awareness

Avalon Waterways is hosting 80 agents on fam trips in a bid to increase their river cruise knowledge.

Independents, consortia and online travel agencies will be hosted on 3  and  4 night shortened itineraries of Avalon’s popular ‘Paris to Normandy Landing Beaches’ cruise on departures throughout April.

A jointly hosted cruise with CLIA on Avalon Tapestry II will also take place from April 6-8 with up to 20 agents invited.

CLIA has targeted cruise agent members who have not experienced a river cruise before.

Paul Sharp, Avalon’s national account manager said:  "It’s a difficult challenge for agents who haven’t experienced a river cruise to be really confident in selling all aspects of this high value holiday product.

"As the market becomes even more competitive, we are committed to providing as many agents as possible with the opportunity to experience it themselves, increase their product knowledge and be confident in selling river cruise to customers. "
