Room revenues up
US hotels enjoyed an 8.6% rise in room revenues, according to Smith Travel Research for the first half of the year.
Industry occupancy reached 64.2% for the three months ending in June. That figure was 4.2% more than in the second quarter of last year.
“Absolute room nights sold and room revenue in the first half of 2004 reached the highest levels the industry has experienced,” said Mark Lomanno, president of Smith Travel Research.
He predicted revenues per available room would rise about 5% this year.
