Royal Caribbean shifts ship from Baltimore to Norfolk, VA
Royal Caribbean is joining Carnival Cruise Line in shifting a Baltimore based cruise ship to Norfolk, Virginia.
Vision of the Seas has been homeporting in Baltimore.
It will now sail all further cruises out of Norfolk.
Booked guests have been notified of the change.
“After the recent Baltimore bridge collapse, Baltimore will not be prepared to safely embark guests on April 12. After exploring all options, Norfolk, Virginia was the best temporary alternate home port,” the cruise line said.
The Francis Scott Key Baltimore Bridge collapsed after being hit by a cargo ship.
Royal Caribbean hasn’t homeported in Norfolk for over a decade.
Vision of the Seas is currently on a long Caribbean cruise and due back in early April.
Carnival Cruise Line this week announced a move to Norfolk for Carnival Legend, which had been based in Baltimore.
Carnival Legend’s current sailing is due back on March 31 and will sail directly into Norfolk.
Guests on this and upcoming cruises have been advised of the change.
NCL and American Cruise Lines also offer regular sailings from Baltimore.
