Royal Mail boosts London Olympic bid
London’s 2012 Olympic bid has received a £1million boost from the Royal Mail which has agreed to give the donation as “an apology” to customers for the disruption caused by recent wildcat strikes. Money for the donation, made at the at the suggestion of watchdog Postwatch, will come from the sale of special stamp books to be issued next year. Royal Mail chief executive Adam Crozier said: “This is a donation that benefits the UK. We let our customers down and this is a straightforward way to say sorry.” Meanwhile the logo for the Olympic bid was unveiled today. It features a multi-coloured ribbon following the course of the River Thames and weaving through the words “London 2012”.
