Rugby World Cup sups and rucks
A series of wine-related festivals is now available for the travel trade to book for their clients travelling during this year’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
The five festivals – commissionable to the trade – are:
– The Nelson Wineart First XV Wine Competition
– Marlborough Wine and Cuisine at Brancott Vineyard
– Wairarapa Vintage Wings and Wine
– Kumeu’s Best of the West Festival
– Gisborne Wine and Food Festival
The collection has been an initiative of New Zealand Winegrowers – the national organisation for the grape and wine sector.
Sarah Thornton, brand & communications manager, New Zealand Winegrowers, said the Rugby World Cup was a great opportunity to showcase New Zealand premium wines.
Project manager, Trish May said, “Agents are finalising the sightseeing components of their clients’ itineraries and also making amendments due to the reallocation of games.
“This gives an opportunity for these festivals to be featured in itineraries.â€
“Many of these festivals are adjacent to matches in their respective regions so there is a great opportunity for visitors to experience the festival as well as the games.â€
The product manual for the wine festivals is available to any agent with clients in New Zealand during September and October – whether or not they are attending the rugby matches.
