Rush for FIFA World Cup soccer tickets
CAPE TOWN – The first seven days of the fourth ticket sales phase for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa has seen a total of 117,589 tickets being sold to 119 countries.
Some 99,042 of those tickets have been sold to South African residents (corresponding to 84 percent).
About 11,500 applications are still being processed. This second-last sales phase will run until April 7. Applications are dealt on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
As from today, football fans can now apply for tickets by phone by calling the Call Centre (open from 08:00 – 17:00 CET, 09:00 – 18:00 South African Time):

Apart from South Africa, the countries with the most tickets sold in this phase are: USA 4,327, UK 1,964, Mexico 1,898, Australia 1,231 and Germany 1,193.
Since last Tuesday, a total of 110,583 individual match tickets have been sold, as well as 7,006 team specific series tickets.
More than 400,000 tickets were made available for the fourth ticketing sales phase.
