Russian Airline Prepares to Launch Sydney Flights
Moscow-based Transaero Airlines is set to become the next international airline into Australia with the commencement of Sydney services by the end of September.
Traffic rights have been secured and we initially plan a scheduled flight linking Moscow and Sydney via Hong Kong every two weeks, said Elina Enikeeva, Head of Branding Division, Transaero Airlines.
Depending upon demand we would like to increase the frequency, she added.
A final decision has yet to be made on aircraft type but it is likely to be a 767 or 747.

The 17 year old private Russian carrier currently has 36 aircraft in its fleet. By the end of the year this number will rise to 47 aircraft, she said.
The airline is not only expanding its fleet strength but the number of destinations it serves, as well.
In April, the carrier commenced twice weekly St Petersburg/Tokyo services. Prior to that, it started Moscow/Bangkok and St Petersburg/Bangkok flights.
Before the end of the year we expect to have our Moscow/New York/Miami flight established, she said.
Transaero Airlines will operate its Sydney service in conjunction with Capitol Tours, she added.
