Ryanair calls for NATS chief to step down

Monday, 15 Sep, 2023 0

Ryanair has called on NATS CEO Martin Rolfe to resign following further flight disruption at Gatwick Airport.

The disruption is being attributed to air traffic controller staff shortages.

This is the third time in two weeks that Gatwick flights have suffered disruption due to ATC staff shortages, Ryanair says.

The situation is ‘unacceptable’ Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary says.

Ryanair called on the CAA to immediately intervene.

“It’s clear that NATS CEO, Martin Rolfe, cannot do his job and he should step aside.”

“It is unacceptable that hundreds of passengers are suffering delays for a third time,” O’Leary said.

“Airlines are paying millions to NATS every year and should not have to see their passengers suffer avoidable delays.

“We call on Martin Rolfe to immediately resign.”

“It is unacceptable that some Gatwick passengers have been hit by further air traffic control problems so soon after the chaos a few weeks ago,” said Rory Boland, Editor of Which? Travel.

“This is not an issue caused by airlines, but they must meet their legal obligations to look after passengers during delays.”
