Ryanair forced to switch summer flights from Pau

Ryanair flights to and from Pau in France will transfer 40kms away to Lourdes for two weeks in the summer holidays.
The switch will take place between July 27 and August 9 to allow Pau Airport to upgrade its landing systems which will enable flights to land safely in adverse weather conditions.
Passengers booked to travel through Pau during this two week period will be contacted by Ryanair and advised of complimentary coach transfers, the airline said.
“Ryanair and Pau Airport sincerely apologise to all passengers for any inconvenience caused,” a Ryanair statement said.
A spokesman said: “Ryanair has worked with Pau and Lourdes Airports to minimise the disruption of the closure of Pau by transferring all flights to Lourdes which is just 40 kilometres away.
“Ryanair will contact all affected passengers via email to inform them of the amendments to their itinerary.
"These essential upgrade works will benefit all passengers in the long-term and will help to ensure that Ryanair passengers suffer fewer adverse weather related disruptions on flights to/from Pau.”
