Ryanair in-air mobile phone deal off
The supplier of in-air mobile phone services to Ryanair has terminated its deal with the low fares carrier.
OnAir confirmed it had terminated the agreement struck two years ago.
The two companies could not reach a "mutual agreement" on fully deploying the technology across the fleet after the service was operated on 50 aircraft for about a year.
"Neither company can comment further if the terms of the agreement," an OnAir statement said.
The Swiss company’s CEO Benoit Debains said: "It’s disappointing that OnAir and Ryanair couldn’t reach agreement on the detail of a roll-out to their enture fleet, but our experience was extremely positive and we wish Ryanair every success in the future.
"OnAir remains fully committed to in-flight connectivity."
The company said it was set to announce new agreements with other carriers for both short and long haul aircraft as well as a strategic partnership with mobile phone operators to enter new markets.
OnAir is operating with six airlines and has 23 agreements with airlines worldwide.
