Ryanair plane narrowly averts mid-air collision

A Ryanair flight that departed Palma for Manchester narrowly avoided a possible mid-air collision.

The Ryanair pilot had to abruptly change course after a private jet entered its flight path.

It was just 100 feet vertically from impact, according to radar tracking.

Safe vertical separation should be 1,000 feet.

The Ryanair jet was within one horizontal mile of the private aircraft

The incident happened in late May shortly after take-off.

“The crew of the flight from Palma to Manchester took immediate action upon identifying a converging light,” a spokesman for Ryanair said.

“The event remains under investigation.”
