Ryanair solves problem of long check-in queues

DUBLIN – Ryanair has found a way to do away with all those long check-in queues at airports.

They’re doing away with check-in desks. Brilliant.

The Irish airline will force all passengers to check-in online from October 1. Bag drop points will be available to those checking luggage.

The new rules will apply for all bookings made after May 1. Until then fees for airport check-in will double to £10/€10 per person per flight.

Ryanair (remember, this is the budget airline that is still threatening to charge passengers for using the onboard toilets) said that up to 75 percent of passengers currently check in online.

And don’t for a second think that Ryanair will be the last budget airline to adopt this strategy. AirAsia, Jetstar, Tiger will all look at this option if it saves money in tough times.
