Ryanair’s pee for a pound debate

Monday, 03 Mar, 2009 0

LONDON – TravelMole UK’s story last week about the move by Ryanair to charge passengers a pound to use the onboard toilets – an initiative Ryanair admits it has discussed internally but discarded – brought some interesting replies from TravelMole subscribers.

We especially liked this response from Keith Standen, who wondered whether Ryanair had thought to charge for oxygen masks and emergency evacuation slides. Keith went on,

“What about coin slots on the overhead lockers, the same on the seat back trays and the toilet soap dispensers (assuming, of course, you can afford to have a pee)?

“Extra charges for cabin crew that speak English ‘clearly’ or even for cabin crew at all. Of course, self-service flights – brilliant.

“Extra charges for taking off on time, extra for taking off at all.

“ Oh god, somebody stop me!

“ Hey Michael, (O’Leary, Ryanair boss) I’m quite good at this, any chance of a job?

“I’ll pay you obviously.”

Thanks, Keith, we’re sure Ryanair already has some of your suggestions under discussion.
