Schoolgirl dies after fall from Tenerife apartment
A schoolgirl has died after falling down stairs at a rented apartment during a family holiday in Tenerife.
Heather Kennedy died two days before her seventh birthday after being rushed to hospital with head injuries following the accident.
She had been in intensive care since losing her footing at an apartment block in the Playa de las Americas resort last Friday.
The youngster, who is from Airdrie, Scotland, is believed to have plunged from a low wall by a spiral staircase leading between floors as she ran to meet her cousins.
She was found unconscious on the ground by her uncle.
A spokesman for National Police in Tenerife confirmed: ‘This is being treated as a tragic accident.’
