Scoot suspends four routes
Budget carrier Scoot is suspending four routes due in part to the worldwide grounding of Boeing 737 Max jets.
Scoot’s Lucknow, Kalibo, Quanzhou and Male routes from Singapore will be suspended starting with Lucknow on June 29.
The last flight to Kalibo operates on June 30, followed by Quanzhou on August 24 and October 25 to Male.
All these flights are operated by Airbus jets but are being scrapped due to the grounding of sister airline SilkAir’s Boeing 737 Max 8 fleet.
Silkair was due to transfer its Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to Scoot over the next few months but the Max grounding has now put this on hold.
Scoot also cited weak demand on the routes being suspended.
However, Scoot will still operate routes that were transferred to Scoot, such as Luang Prabang and Vientiane in Laos, and Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Visakhapatnam in India.
Customers with bookings for affected dates can claim a full refund or take a 120% credit.
Flights may also be brought forward at no cost before the planned suspension date or reroute to another destination within the same country.
