Scottish travel agents to receive one-off grants
Scottish travel agents are to receive one-off grants of up to £25,000 as part of a £5m government support package.
The grants will be issued to eligible businesses by local councils.
They were announced by the Scottish government last December after travel agents marched on the Scottish parliament demanding sector-specific support.
The grants will be determined by the rateable value of the premises, starting at £10,000 and rising to £25,000 for those with the highest rateable value.
To be eligible, agencies must sell outbound travel and operate from fixed premises.
Businesses operating from multiple premises are able to apply for funding for each of the premises, subject to subsidy control.
Local authorities will contact agents directly, but those who haven’t heard from councils by 8 February are advised to contact them.
