Scottsdale CVB opts for new technology
The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has introduced new audio podcasts, blogs, live chat tool and RSS feeds that are giving them state-of-the-art technology.
“Providing this technology is not only enhancing the Scottsdale experience for our visitors, but also is helping to connect the destination with the newest generation of travelers,” said Lauren Simons, vice president of marketing.
New technology tools include more than a dozen audio tours of the area available for download to MP3-compatible devices; five blogs encouraging two-way communications with visitors; and a LiveHelp chat tool that includes a concierge answering questions.
RSS feeds for leisure visitor e-mail campaigns and blogs are also planned to be launched this fall.
Said Ms Simons:
“Previously, our resort guests might lay by the pool with a book in one hand and a margarita in the other. In many cases, the book has been replaced with an iPod, MP3 player or hand-held PDA such as a BlackBerry.”
Surveys by the Travel Industry Association and Synovate show growing numbers of travelers are bringing along electronic devices such as cell phones and digital cameras, as well laptops and CD players.
