Seaplane tours coming to Ho Chi Minh City
Tourism officials are considering giving the green light to seaplane tours of Ho Chi Minh City with the aim to boosting both visitor numbers and the average length of stay.
Hai Au Aviation, the only aviation company in Vietnam registered to operate seaplane services has been in discussions with city officials to launch the service.
The aerial tour could be combined with a road or river tour, as the seaplanes are able to land on the Saigon River or in the coastal town of Can Gio, according to vice director of the city’s tourism department, La Quoc Khanh.
Hai Au Aviation recently launched seaplane tours between Hanoi and Ha Long Bay and from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet.
Officials hope the tours will help to convince visiting tourists to stay longer.
Tourism data shows the average length of stay is three days which the tourism department believes can be increased to boost the local economy.
