Search called off for missing British tourist in Australia
The two day search for a British man who went missing in Sydney has been called off.
The 31-year old man, who had arrived in Australia from Manchester just a week ago, went swimming alone at South Curl Curl Beach.
Police and emergency services conducted a two-day operation involving police divers and a helicopter.
In a statement police said: "After searching throughout the morning with nil find, the search has now been called off. However police will continue to make inquiries into the man’s disappearance."
South Curl Curl beach is known for its rip currents which can carry people to the rocky headlands and is described as ‘one of the more hazardous beaches in the area’.
