SeaWorld announces hundreds of redundancies
SeaWorld is cutting hundreds of jobs across all of its theme parks in an effort to reduce its wage bill as it struggles to return to profitability.
The company said it would lay off 320 employees as part of a company-wide restructuring.
The jobs will go across12 theme parks in a bid to save $65 million.
"SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc implemented a restructuring program across the entire 12-park enterprise focused on reducing costs, increasing efficiencies, reducing duplication of functions and improving the company’s operations through proven benchmarks," the company said in a statement.
"These changes are being made to best position our company for long-term success.
"We remain committed to a continued focus on the guest experience, the health and welfare of our animals, and the safety of our guests and team members."
SeaWorld will offer ‘enhanced severance benefits and outplacement assistance’ to affected employees. it said.
The company operates theme parks in Florida, California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
