SeaWorld cutting hundreds of jobs

SeaWorld Entertainment is cutting hundreds of jobs across multiple locations as the theme park operator undergoes and company-wide restructuring.

The company said it would lay off 320 employees as it looks to cut costs as it struggles to get back in the black.

The jobs will go across 12 theme park locations and headquarters in an effort to reduce costs by about $65 million.

"SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc implemented a restructuring program across the entire 12-park enterprise focused on reducing costs, increasing efficiencies, reducing duplication of functions and improving the company’s operations through proven benchmarks. These changes are being made to best position our company for long-term success," a company statement said.

"We remain committed to a continued focus on the guest experience, the health and welfare of our animals, and the safety of our guests and team members."

SeaWorld will offer ‘enhanced severance benefits and outplacement assistance’ to affected employees it said.

The company operates parks in Florida, California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
