Second vessel to be named Island Star
A second ship due to join Island Cruises is to be named Island Star.
The four-star vessel, currently operating as Horizon for Celebrity Cruises, is to undergo extensive refurbishment before joining Island Cruises in Brazil for winter 2005-06.
The 1,700-passesnger vessel will be deployed on an as yet unconfirmed Mediterranean programme next summer.
Island Cruises, the joint venture between First Choice and Royal Caribbean Cruises, is due to sail alongside existing ship Island Escape.
Horizon is to be “substantially refitted” before entering service as Island Star with the addition of 50 balconies, an increased number of premium cabins and two grand suites. All cabin bathrooms are to be refurbished.
The number of restaurants will rise from three to five, including a new speciality dining area, while two new bars will be added to bring the number up to eight.
A children’s pool, Action Zone and children’s club will be added while the pool area, health club and gym are to be revamped.
