Royal Caribbean International has released a video of the elaborate official naming of the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas.
Seven godmothers – reflecting the vast vessel’s seven dedicated ‘neighbourhoods’ – were involved in the naming.
Video of the event is available on the ship’s dedicated website, www.OasisOfTheSeas.com.
The seven celebrity godmothers were Gloria Estefan, Jane Seymour, Daisy Fuentes, Shawn Johnson, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Michelle Kwan and Dara Torres.
The celebration took place throughout the seven areas, culminating with a traditional Champagne bottle breaking ceremony followed by a fireworks display in the AquaTheater, the ship’s open air theatre.
The event marked the end of 10 days of ship preview activity before the 6,00-passenger ship enters service from Fort Lauderdale this week.
