Selfie-less travel packages

Tired of spending hours of your holiday on your phone cropping, filtering and sharing photos on all your social media channels? Well it seems certain members of the glitterati are. Bruvion Travel, a high-end travel company, have launched a new ‘Selfie-Less Travel’ package, where guests are accompanied by a social media assistant on their trip, ensuring they capture the perfect shot – they even post the photos online for the client. Bruvion bost a number of celebrity clients, but say the new package is for everyone and allows holidaymakers to enjoy their break without being constantly stuck on their phone.

We have all been in a situation where someone in front of us is walking slow whilst using their mobile phone. With China having such a large population and with the advance of technology we can only imagine the scale of the issue. The Chinese city of Chongqing has found a solution to this problem and has created a walking lane for mobile phone users. The lane features an image of a mobile phone with the words ‘Cell phones walk in this lane’ printed clearly in English and Chinese, right next to it is a lane with the words ‘no cell phones’. The two lanes have become a big hit in the city.

It’s been hard to escape news of the Scottish independence referendum this week, and while we won’t be offering an opinion on the outcome, we will touch on Channel 4 News using social media apps Snapchat and WhatsApp to distribute breaking news updates. Content in the form of text, photos and videos will be regularly provided by Channel 4’s correspondents on site, Paul Mason and Jon Snow, in addition to analysis from C4’s team throughout the UK. Voting takes place on September 18 at ballots across Scotland, so the success of the strategy remains to be seen but this is a clear move to engage with the younger voters who have passionately got behind the referendum.

And finally, it seems that man wins when it comes to the race against London transport. This week, video evidence showed a man racing London’s Circle line from Mansion House to Cannon Street. It just goes to show that many of the Capital’s tube stations really are closer than we think…time to get those running shoes on!
