Shangri-La Hotels checking in to Bahrain
Luxury Hong Kong-based hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has announced plans to enter the Bahrain market.
In collaboration with Bahrain Marina Development Company, Shangri-La will be the hotel management company for a luxury hotel and waterfront villas located in ‘Bahrain Marina,’
Shangri-La Hotel, Bahrain is slated to open in 2022 as a 250-room luxury hotel including 150 one- to three-bedroom suites, eight beach chalets and 21 waterfront villas.
It will feature five restaurants, a rooftop lounge, two outdoor pools, and health club and spa.
It will also have a ballroom Kids Club and a private beach.
"Bahrain is a strategically important destination for Shangri-La and we are delighted to partner in this opportunity with the Bahrain Marina Development Company," said Shangri-La International Hotel Management Limited president & COO Oliver Bonke.
"Bringing the iconic Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts brand to Bahrain in the landmark Bahrain Marina will strengthen the destination as well as further enhance brand recognition."
Shangri-La has a presence across the GCC region with hotels in the UAE, Oman and Qatar, and the first hotel in Saudia Arabia, Shangri-La Hotel, Jeddah, is due to open next year.
The 310,000-square-metre ‘Bahrain Marina’ is located centrally and will be positioned as the country’s premier lifestyle and leisure destination, with residences, a yacht club, shopping outlets and various recreational amenities.
