Short film tells holidaymakers what to do in terror attack
A four-minute film that depicts a terror attack on a hotel has been made to raise awareness among holidaymakers this summer.
The film, which can be viewed on Youtube and the Foreign Office website, uses the ‘run, hide, tell’ message that the UK police introduced in December 2015.
The message tells people to run to a place of safety, leaving belongings behind and bringing others with them.
If there is no place of safety, they should hide and turn their phones to silent.
As soon as it is safe, they should alert authorities by using the local emergency number which is 112 in EU countries.
Detective Chief Superintendent Scott Wilson, national co-ordinator for the protect and prepare strategy, said: "It is important everyone stays alert and knows what to do if the worst was to happen.
"We want people to think of this in the same way they do the safety film airlines show before take-off."
