SilkAir landing in Darwin
SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will begin direct services between Singapore and Darwin on March 26 next year subject to regulatory approvals.
The Northern Territory capital will be the airline’s first destination in Australia since it began operations in 1984, when it was known as Tradewinds.
Full service flights will be operated four times a week, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with next-day return flights.
The new services will be operated with Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy class cabins.
In support of its recently announced alliance with Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia will complement the Silk Air services with a daily service between Sydney and Darwin from April 2 next year.
The two airlines also confirmed that from December 20 they would commence reciprocal frequent flyer recognition,
