Silverjet becomes bookable through GDS
Silverjet bookings can now be made on Amadeus, Sabre and Galileo GDSs.
While the GDSs work to establish electronic ticketing, Silverjet will temporarily be relying on paper tickets.
Silverjet has also announced that it has joined the Bank Settlement Plan (BSP) in the UK and the Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC) in the US to facilitate payment settlement.
George Henderson, IT director, said: “Our relationships with the trade are critical to our success and the demand for GDS booking capability since our launch has been overwhelming.
“We took the decision to enable paper ticketing to facilitate seat reservations in the short term. This is only a temporary situation until we complete the projects we are currently working on with the GDSs and offer full eticketing hopefully within the next two to three months.
“Paper ticketing doesn’t actually mean that agents have to hand out paper tickets to customers as we do not require the customer to hand over a ticket at departure. All the customer is required to do is show us appropriate travel identification.”
