Silverjet confirms second New York service
All business class airline has set a date for the start of a second daily return service to New York.
Flights from Luton will begin on September 23 after the airline’s launch Boeing 767 completed a standard 18 monthly maintenance service.
The carrier’s first flight from Luton airport will depart at 10:00 and arrive at 13:00 local time. The return flight from New York Newark will depart at 19:30 and arrive at Luton at 07:20 the following morning.
The second flight will depart Luton at 16:45 and land in New York at 19:45 with the return departing Newark at 21:45 and arriving in London at 09:45.
Confirmation of the additional frequency came as the airline issued passenger and traffic statistics for August which showed an 80% load factor based on 4,654 seats sold out of an available 5,800. The carrier achieved a 76% on-time departure record.
Silverjet also said that a date for its preliminary results for the year ended March 31 will be announced by Friday (September7).
Chief executive Lawrence Hunt said: “We are delighted to announce an 80% load factor for August which reflects another strong month for Silverjet, our seventh consecutive one of growth.
“We continue to see strong forward bookings at increasing yields. Yields are strong, which together with the robust traffic statistics is an impressive achievement in August, traditionally the quietest month for transatlantic business travel. We are also seeing a good mix of business and leisure customers which allows us to spread our risk.
“We are also in the pleasing position of being able to announce the launch of our second service on September 23, putting Silverjet in a strong position to accelerate the growth of the business.”
