Singapore Airlines announces loyalty partnership with Alibaba’s Fliggy travel platform
Singapore Airlines has sealed a loyalty partnership deal with Alibaba’s travel platform Fliggy.
From October members can use points earned in either programme to book flights or packages and hotel stays.
Members of Fliggy’s top two loyalty tiers, F2 and F3, will be automatically given SIA’s KisFlyer Silver and Gold status if they book and complete one round trip journey.
"Membership service is the integral part of the travel and hospitality industry. This collaboration brings our partnership, which initially started in 2013 with the adoption of Alipay by Singapore Airlines, to a whole new level," said Jerry Hu, Alibaba Group vice president.
Singapore Airlines launched an e-store on Fliggy back in 2016.
China is Singapore’s top market in both tourism arrivals and spending, generating $3.7 billion, according to the Singapore Tourism Board.
"Our partnership with Alibaba Group will be an important element in our drive to be a digital aviation leader," said Mak Swee Wah, Singapore Airlines executive vice president commercial.
"The numbers will continue to grow in years to come, and this presents a very attractive business proposition."
SIA also announced an expansion of Alipay, allowing users to buy inflight and airport services and KrisShop products.
