Singapore’s Changi kicks goals with Terminal 3
SINGAPORE: More than 2,000 visitors turned up on the first day of an Open House at the new Changi Airport Terminal 3 this week.
Visitors pay S$3 for a guide to take them beyond the public area and into the transit section, with the proceeds going to charity.
One visitor from the UK told Channel News Asia, “I have used Manchester Airport, I have used Heathrow Airport, I have used airports in Paris, Germany, Switzerland, the Middle East and none of them are anywhere near this standard.”
Extensive trials of the terminal and test flights are ongoing before the scheduled January 9 opening.
Retail shops in Terminal 3 will be unlike those conventional ones in the current two terminals.
The world’s first FIFA store is among those going into Terminal 3.
“Changi is a great aviation hub for international travellers around the world, and football is the number one international sport in the world. This is the perfect combination of the number one sport and the number one airport location,” said Global Brands Group’s senior vice-president of retail, Martin Darby.
The store will be officially opened on January 16.
