Site compiles dubious list: most thrilling airports

Sunday, 12 Jul, 2011 0

AirFareWatchDog with the help of an anonymous pilot compiled a list of heart-stopping airports, which includes one where even airport officials say promises a “unique landing experience.”

That’s because Scotland’s Barra Airport is “the only one in the world where scheduled flights land on a beach.” For flyers at dusk, a few vehicles are used to light up the runway.

“Thrilling North American” airports include Sitka, Alaska, Avalon, Calif., and LaGuardia in New York City.

Check out the site at AirFareWatchdog.com for the complete list.
