Skal shows support for Bangkok
Skal International, the largest association of tourism professionals covering all branches of the industry, will go ahead with meetings of its executive committee and International Skal Council in Bangkok later this week.
President of Skal International, Karine Coulanges, said in the opinion of those attending the meetings the greatest support Thailand can receive during difficult times "is the continued interest in tourism to the kingdom".
Dozens of countries have issued travel warnings about visiting Thailand following last week’s military coup and curfew.
“More than 50 nations have already issued travel warnings. Among these, Hong Kong raised the warning to the top level,” said Pornthip Hirunkate, vice president of the Tourism Council of Thailand.
“Everyone in the country, especially in the tourism sector, hopes military rule is lifted soon and democracy restored,” Pornthip added.
