A cross country skiing resort popular with Brits has made it into the Top Ten Cross Country Skiing Resorts in a list compiled by Forbes Traveller recently.

Mont Sainte Anne Cross Country Centre in Quebec, with its more than 130 miles of trails and a season that lasts from November through to April, was voted as one of North America’s best by nearly all of those polled.

“Mont Sainte-Anne has exciting trails and great après ski as well,” said Claire Etherton from Waymark Holidays, one of the few British specialists to run holidays there.

“It is no wonder it is as well-regarded Stateside as it is here.”

The Top Ten list was compiled by members of the US Cross Country Ski Team and included resorts from a wide range of locations and for a wide range of abilities.

The sport, once considered slow and laborious, is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are learning just how thrilling and exhilarating it can be.

“Cross country skiing is not just skiing on the flat or uphill,” said Ms Etherton. “It can be very fast and very challenging.”

Mont Sainte Anne features in Waymark’s 9-day cross-country skiing holiday in Quebec. Prices start at £1585pp including return flights, half board accommodation and the services of a guide.
