Smartphone ride reservation system coming to new Malaysia theme park
Malaysia’s latest theme park Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) will have a ground breaking mobile queuing system for rides when it opens next year in the city of Ipoh.
The theme park has teamed up with tech firm Accesso Technology Group to develop a ride booking system whereby guests do not need to stand in line.
Guests reserve their place and are notified via their smartphone when it is their turn to ride.
"MAPS is one of the most unique and exciting projects underway in the leisure and tourism industry in Malaysia," said Accesso CEO officer Tom Burnet.
"We are thrilled with the role our technology will play in helping guests maximise their time in the park as well as drive incremental revenue for it."
The theme park believes the system will ultimately drive incremental revenue by enabling visitors to spend time in retail and F&B outlets while awaiting their turn on rides rather than standing in long queues.
Set to open in mid-2016 MAPS will feature more than 40 movie-themed rides and attractions and will have the world’s first dedicated DreamWorks zone.
