Solomon Islands cruise season kicks off
The Solomon Islands cruise season is off to a promising start.
The first of seven cruise ships confirmed over the next four months arrived this week in Honiara.
The 165-cabin MS Paul Gauguin arrived with a full complement of 330 passengers.
It will be followed with a Solomon Islands cruise call by Seabourn Sojourn next month.
Sojourn also calls at Tavanipupu Island Resort in Marau.
The resort made headlines several years ago when it hosted the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Heritage Adventurer is scheduled to arrive in March along with Lindblad Expedition’s National Geographic Orion.
In April three Hapag-Lloyd expedition class vessels visit the Solomon Islands.
Tourism Solomons said it is prepared for the international cruising market, with a modern cruise terminal in Honiara.
“The time is right to rekindle the relationships with major cruise lines,” said Head of Sales and Marketing,. Fiona Teama.
“We know more than one million Australians and Kiwis enjoying cruises predominantly in South Pacific waters every year.”
