Song ups the decibels
Expansion plans for Delta’s low-fare affiliated Song call for a dozen 199-seat 757’s to join its fleet next year, but that could be just the start.
Joanne Smith, acting president, told Aviation Daily the carrier may start new transcontinental routes from New York’s JFK next year.
“The game plan is to use the Song product to compete vigorously in some of those tough competitive markets where there is a lot of demand and low-cost competition is fierce,” Smith said.
She added two new US markets would probably be Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Airline officials said despite industry turbulence, profit margins for Song are improving. The service has also had positive passenger feedback.
