Southwest announces plans to switch Seattle airport
Southwest Airlines released details of plans to leave Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) for Boeing Field.
Due to high operating costs at Sea-Tac, Southwest is proposing to build a terminal at King County’s Boeing Field.
Competing airlines Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air immediately requested equal access to Boeing Field, which is smaller than Sea-Tac but closer to downtown Seattle.
Southwest proposed to King County officials building a $130 million eight-gate commercial terminal with parking, concession spaces and baggage handing and screening facilities at Boeing Field.
