Southwest flying back to New Orleans

Southwest Airlines plans to become the first carrier to reinstate service to the stricken city of New Orleans next week.

The airline e announced it will reinstate two roundtrip flights a day to Houston.

Initially, Southwest said he would not have service in the near future to and from the Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Southwest said it would announce the exact date the flights would begin and the times later this week.

Before Hurricane Katrina, Southwest was the busiest carrier at the New Orleans airport.

At that time, 18 domestic and international airlines served the airport. In 2004, Southwest was the airport’s largest carrier with 31.1% of the market share last year, followed by Delta Air Lines with 12.2% and American Airlines with 11.9%
