Southwest vows normal service after flight cancellations meltdown
Southwest Airlines has promised business as usual from today after week of mass flight cancellations.
The airline cancelled over 16,000 flights this week.
It has impacted about one million holiday travellers.
“We are encouraged by the progress and we are eager to return to a state of normalcy,” Southwest COO Ryan Green said.
Passengers are asked to submit compensation claims on the website for flight cancellations.
It says it will honor reasonable requests for reimbursement.
This includes meals, hotel and alternate transportation.
The US Department of Transportation is investigating Southwest.
“I’m assigning resources to follow up on every complaint,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said.
