Spain to spend millions boosting UK market
The Spanish Tourist Office is spending £25 million on an advertising campaign to promote the country to tourists.
Nearly a fifth of the budget will be spent on a UK campaign, appealing to British holidaymakers through the UK media.
Dubbed, “Smile, you’re in Spain!”, the campaign will appear in print media, advertising boards, the internet and on television.
It will promote the country as a whole as well as focus on specific regions and on specific areas of interest such as city breaks or sport tourism.
Golf and water sports are top priorities according to the tourist board.
One of the country’s attributes the campaign will focus on is safety, alongside a familiar environment.
The campaign will run in two three-month waves from this month.
