Spike in study trip interest for New York City
The US opening up for travel again has sparked a surge in interest in study trips – with New York the No.1 destination, according to Diversity Travel.
Enquiries about the Big Apple have rocketed by 100% after US authorities confirmed they would allow entry to double-jabbed visitors from 8 November, while overall queries are up 40%.
Diversity Travel Commercial Director, Samantha Whittle, sai: "Study trips offer students stand-out experiences that last a lifetime. The pandemic put a pause on the entire sector, but as a result of the US opening, enquiries have shot up."
"Its world-class cultural attractions mean New York’s popularity remains undimmed, but domestic destinations like London and Edinburgh are giving it a run for its money."
"We have invested significantly in new platforms that provide all the details that one could possibly need at the touch of a button."
Domestic destinations are also proving a popular draw – with London and Edinburgh among the most searched-for cities.
Elsewhere Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona, Athens, Rome, Paris and Iceland all feature in the Top Ten most popular destinations.
The analysis shines a spotlight on the impact the pandemic has had across the industry – and follows the recent launch of Diversity Travel’s dedicated Study Trips division.
Data platform Sherpa provides users the most up-to-date information on a country’s Covid-19 travel requirements, from testing and quarantines to vaccination information, while YouLi allows you to see and manage all of your trip itineraries in one place.
Diversity Study Trips was launched earlier this year following the collapse of STA Travel.
It is led by Groups Director Ellen Rayner, who built STA Travel’s B2B division from scratch during the decade she spent with them.
