Spirit Airlines offers suggestive ‘Weiner Rides Again’ promo
Taking advantage of a growing sexting scandal involving a candidate for mayor of New York, Spirit Airlines rolled out a tongue-in-cheek ad campaign starring a hot dog.
"This summer, ‘The Weiner Rises Again.’ Carlos Danger offers $24 off," says Spirit’s website and an email sent to customers.
Not exactly explained is what a $24 sale on tickets to Mexico has to do with Anthony Weiner, the beleaguered candidate for mayor of New York City.
Forced to give up his Congressional seat after admitting to emailing and texting naked pictures of himself, Weiner is back on the campaign trail, this time for mayor.
He has acknowledged indulging in the same behavior as recently as last summer, texting photos of himself under the alias "Carlos Danger."
Weiner’s wife, an aide to and close friend of Hillary Clinton, is standing by her man, but many in both political parties say the continual sexual inuendoes linked to his name are an unseemly distraction from the real issues affecting New York, and are asking him to pull out of the race.
Meanwhile, Spirit’s campaign offers $24 off vacation packages to Los Cabos or Cancun between August 19 and November 21, 2013.
The sale ends tomorrow.
Weiner’s campaign may be over by then, too, though he vows to carry on.
