Stansted Easter strike cancelled
The Easter weekend strike by ground staff at Stansted airport has been cancelled following peace talks, see previous story.
In a joint statement released following talks in London today Swissport and GMB and Unite said, "We are pleased that passengers and families travelling over the Easter Weekend will no longer face potential disruption.
The GMB union said that talks would continue during April in an attempt to reach a joint consensus that ensures they understand the commercial challenges and balance the need for the work life balance of their membership.
The unions had agreed to peace talks with ACAS after members had voted in favour of walkouts on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Monday in a row with employers Swissport over pay – claiming cuts of up to £1,000 a year because of shift changes.
